Analysis

 Hi,

This week I read quite a few interesting thesis regarding game balance,

the information that I am gaining is helping me put the back end of games into perspective, its interesting to see the different strategies and methods that developers use in order to come out with a game that has depth, meaning and most importantly, balance. Balance between players, balance between players and Ai, etc...

I am glad I chose this topic, however it has convinced me NOT to be a game developer......ever....

I still am very fascinated by ref works for some reason, I must say issa handy ahh tool.

I feel much more comfortable when typing now...it is becoming second nature, I can literally type without looking at the keyboard, always wanted to be able to do that LOL.

Doing Reading 03

 Hi,

I have completed the first 3 readings of the semester. I broke down and wrote a summary of each reading. It was very interesting leaning about the process of game balance within game design. I did not think that would be one of most time consuming and difficult processes that game designers have to go through when designing games, it really shows how the front end side of things are effected by processes such as game balance. It was also interesting to learn about Ai and game balance, and how restrictions within a game majorly impact game balance, separating different players with different mindsets when playing a game.

I found Refworks very straight forward and easy to use, it is a very handy tool. It will definitely help me out in the future.

I am looking forward to analyzing and reading more of these readings as I think it really puts balance within a game into perspective. It also helps me understand the psychology side of games and how humans decision making can never be imitated by Ai...

Anyway, here is the link to my google docs where I have my analysis of these readings....

Thanks for reading!

Tutorial 01

 Hi,

I have began the 2D unity tutorial for "Rubys Adventure"

I like the way the tutorial is in writing and also has gifs demonstrating the process of the tutorial. I prefer this than the tutorials we did in semester 1, I feel that it is easier to follow. The coding side opened up brackets which I didn't expect considering we used a different program last semester while we coded our games. I thought I had done something wrong when brackets opened up...I am looking forward to doing the rest of the tutorial and learning more about the process developers take in order to create a good 2D game, all the skills I learn will hopefully be applied when I making my own game.

Planning

 Hi,

We are back!!! Semester 1 was great fun and was a great learning experience, I am looking forward to get into semester 2. For this week we did not do a reading we just got introduced to the itb online library as well as learnt how to use Refworks which is great for referencing work done for college. Like I said this week is just setting up to get ready for the rest of the semester, I am looking forward to learn how to create a 2D game this semester, although I am not a big fan of unity I will still power through and do my best!

                                                                         Yes we back!
