Reading 09

 Hi, 

I have just completed the reading task which was to critically evaluate 2 of my peers pieces of writing regarding a topic to do with video games. I read and gave feedback on the 5 domains of play by Aaron Goodman, and also read and gave feed back on How games affect the brain by Khang Pham. 
I thought that these two pieces of writing were very interesting for the particular reason that they focused on the brain and how games can alter a persons traits and emotions. I can certainly agree with a lot of what I read in these writings considering I am a gamer myself. 

I enjoyed giving critical feedback for the particular reason that, evidently, there was a lot of research and time dedicated towards these writings. The language was clear and fairly easy to understand, the introductions and conclusions are well put together, pre and post getting into the topic. 

I myself had to change up my introduction due to feedback I had received and safe to say I am happier with it now.

Unity Tutorial 02

 Hi, 

I have just completed unity tutorial 2, all my classmates are finished their unity tutorials I am only finished the second one after a whole semester, this is due to me not being engaged with unity at all this semester, I did not focus on unity and it is a shame because I missed out on a lot of points, anyway, I cant do anything about it now but to focus on the future projects and reading tasks we have coming up. 

It has been a stressful semester, my focus was not as good as it was last semester due to personal issues but we move!

                                                                        We look forward.

In this tutorial I learnt to decorate the world and block movements and world interactions. As always I struggled with the tutorial,  I made some mistakes in the coding part which took me a while to find what was wrong, it was simple things such as adding the semi colons at the end of the code and such.

Reading 08

 Hi, 

I have just completed my introduction and conclusion. I found the videos provided to us really helpful with writing my intro and conclusion. I found the process of doing the academic writing very cool and found it very interesting, my typing and writing skills have drastically improved, using the annotated bibliographies was a great process to follow for the purposes of the writings.

Reading 07

 Hi,

Over the past few weeks I have gathered information from articles I found regarding my topic, which is game balance. I was then asked to create annotated bibliographies regarding these topics, after that was done, we created specific themes from the summaries of the articles that we compiled and subsequently wrote paragraphs using these themes. 

I received feedback from my class mates as well as gave them feedback regarding their themes. This exercise really helped me improve my feedback skills. The feedback I received from my class mates helped me understand how I can further improve writing and also creating my themes. 

I have come to realise that feedback from peers is absolutely vital for whatever it is one is creating. Understanding how other people perceive my work really puts it into perspective for me and allows me to improve my work further. I have also come to realise that giving feedback to others assists me in giving my self feedback as a different persons work, that will help me improve work when I am unsure of quality. 

                                                                       Feedback is great!

Next time I am required to give feedback I hope to further implement feedback skills in order to give, better and clearer feedback.

Reading 06

 Hi, 

I have just completed this weeks reading task, 

I am now beginning to understand this process and how each step aids the next steps of the process. 

Using the info that I gathered from the readings I have highlighted and selected certain topics from the main reading summaries, then I broke down each one into academically written paragraphs. Combining the info from the readings. These exercises and tasks are really helping me with my writing skills, it is not what I particularly expected from this course, to be writing this much...However I am glad we are doing it, as it improves our reading skills which will help with reading briefs in detail and understanding them and what potential customers need, as well as our writing skills, for articles, emails, reports and other stuff we may write in the future. These exercise have also aided my typing skills, like mentioned before, my typing is very fast and I do not even have to look at the keyboard when typing. Looking forward to further perfecting my reading/writing skills.

Analysis

 Hi, 

This week I read quite a few interesting thesis regarding game balance, 

the information that I am gaining is helping me put the back end of games into perspective, its interesting to see the different strategies and methods that developers use in order to come out with a game that has depth, meaning and most importantly, balance. Balance between players, balance between players and Ai, etc...

I am glad I chose this topic, however it has convinced me NOT to be a game developer......ever....

I still am very fascinated by ref works for some reason, I must say issa handy ahh tool. 

I feel much more comfortable when typing now...it is becoming second nature, I can literally type without looking at the keyboard, always wanted to be able to do that LOL.

Doing Reading 03

 Hi,

I have completed the first 3 readings of the semester. I broke down and wrote a summary of each reading. It was very interesting leaning about the process of game balance within game design. I did not think that would be one of most time consuming and difficult processes that game designers have to go through when designing games, it really shows how the front end side of things are effected by processes such as game balance. It was also interesting to learn about Ai and game balance, and how restrictions within a game majorly impact game balance, separating different players with different mindsets when playing a game. 

I found Refworks very straight forward and easy to use, it is a very handy tool. It will definitely help me out in the future.

I am looking forward to analyzing and reading more of these readings as I think it really puts balance within a game into perspective. It also helps me understand the psychology side of games and how humans decision making can never be imitated by Ai...
